This Leadership Conference was an incredible opportunity for students and faculty to strengthen the ties between our respective campuses, exchanging ideas and experiences across situations, perfectly in the spirit of Dr. Carlos Albizu’s vision. To have been a part of this conference was a great honor and privilege, and I personally took away lessons in leadership and effective treatment, that will stay with me moving forward. The Albizu Miami team was buzzing with ideas to amplify and expand the exchange of concepts we experienced in Mayagüez, including a similar inter-campus leadership event hosted by the Miami campus. All in all, this experience proved fruitful in myriad ways and will pay dividends in the future for all involved.

I want to express my gratitude once again for the amazing opportunity and experience that was provided to me. The trip proved to be an eye-opening experience, and I felt honored to be a part of such a remarkable university and group of professionals. The tour conducted by the staff at the University of San Juan was wonderful, and it provided us with valuable insights and tools that can be implemented here in Miami. Additionally, the University of Mayaguez was an enormous institution, and we were treated with the utmost respect and attention. The presenters offered us invaluable tools that will contribute to our future success in leadership roles. I even thought of organizing a series of mini-conferences where students can share what they have learned and their own experiences as leaders. This experience has inspired me to continue learning and leading. During the breaks, I was able to network and exchange contacts with other students and professional leaders. I appreciate this opportunity, and I would be delighted to participate in any future conferences. By working collaboratively with the conference speakers, I received information about potential future conferences that we could participate in and provide feedback on. My goal is to present our feedback during a conference at our Albizu Miami campus.

Unification is the word that can summarize this trip for me, not just for those from Miami that traveled to see the roots of Albizu University with me, but for all the campuses. Being able to walk the halls of where our school burgeoned was a breathtaking phenomenon. Touching the architecture where so many students have learned instilled a deeper appreciation of how far this university has grown; the building is beautiful. This adventure tightened bonds and forged friendships that otherwise might not have occurred. Attending the leadership summit brought that chance to reality. Surrounding myself with other individuals who pursue this vocation in another region was quite exciting, and being able to connect with colleagues on an interpersonal level gifted me the university experience I have always yearned for. Puerto Rico, from the culture to the people, welcomed me with open arms and showed me that there is still so much more to experience, and Albizu University has grown that hunger. Now I yearn for more and will seek these opportunities wherever they may be.

Thank you! I want to express how incredible it was to travel to Puerto Rico for the Student Leadership Summit. The conference was educational and reinforced my commitment to completing my bachelor’s degree and continuing on to the master’s program. This trip has given me so much motivation; from visiting the Main Campus in San Juan and the campus in Mayaguez, seeing all the students, and the attention I was given. I felt I belonged, and they treated me like a movie star. As for the presenters, I enjoyed them ALL. The workshops provided information on becoming a leader, from time management to remembering people’s names as a sign of respect which is an important practice. I will always remember this trip. It was educational and inspiring and has reinforced my journey in Psychology.
